To provide the best leopard frog tadpoles care possible, it is important to prepare the aquarium properly. The water in the aquarium should be clean and the frogs should receive frequent water changes. It is advisable to place the tadpoles in small plastic cups that do not allow them to escape. In addition, the water in the aquarium should be regularly changed, and live plants and other substrates should be checked for decay or dieback.
Clean water is essential for tadpoles, as dirty water is the most common cause of most tadpole problems. Make sure that the water in the habitat is changed at least once a week, or more frequently if it starts to look cloudy. To change the water, first wash your hands and then use a clean cup to pour out three inches of water.
A tank that has a half-land, half-water design is a good choice for leopard frog tadpoles. You can use Plexiglass or other materials to section off the two zones. Alternatively, you can place a thick wood or log partly in the water and partly on the land. Both areas will provide an excellent basking spot. If you do not have a tank with gravel, you can use rocks or logs to create ramps that allow the frogs to hop from the water to the land.
Leopard frog tadpoles are easy to care for. You can buy tadpoles at your local pet store or online. Once you receive the tadpoles, make sure you shake them gently. If you do not see any movement, the tadpoles may be sleeping. Shaking the container will wake them up.
