Leopard is one of the most beautiful and majestic animals in the world. Drawing this stunning cat in colored pencil is an amazing way to express your love and appreciation for it!
Learn to draw this regal big cat with this very simple tutorial.
To begin with, sketch out the head of the leopard using light pencil strokes. After that, add the facial details with prominence and shade them for a realistic look.
Join the head with the body and legs to give off a furry outline. Next, draw the paws of the animal using curved lines in different sizes.
Depict the front paws of the leopard in the lower part of its body with short lines and create the hind paws at the back of the torso.
The back of the animal is quite long and thick, so make sure to sketch it out in detail with light pencil strokes. The hind paws should also look big and meaty with the belly hairs defining the outline.
Practice a lot of life drawings from zoo visits and other photos until you can sketch any pose the cat takes repeatedly while pacing back and forth or looking back at the crowd. These quick sketches may not be good finished drawings, but they will teach you a lot about the animal’s anatomy and movement.
When you get to the end of your drawing, it is time to add spots all over the leopard’s body and color it in. The steps are easy and can be done in a variety of mediums including graphic tablet and physical paint.
